Equipment
Casting
For the two days of shooting, I plan to use between six and seven actors depending on their availability.
Three of these seven actors shall of course be the band members who will feature throughout both scenes of the band playing and other scenes around Warmley Forest will also encompass four extras. Two of the band members included are myself and my colleague Jake Kardasz as during our AS Portfolio, we encountered several problems with using external actors therefore we both decided that we would be more motivated to give a convincing performance compared to those last year who could be considered as immature and time wasting. However one actor who was used last year, Adam Canning, gave a convincing performance in his role therefore has agreed to work with us once again as the lead singer and main focus of the video; he is also a member of our target audience and has already been interviewed to see what he looks for himself in a music video.
Other extras will mainly include girls, Ellen Ireland, Olivia Hopkins and Caitlin Whelan as well as Jack Stiff. These people have been selected mainly for their appearance and fashion as they will already own items of clothing which will coincide with my research into vintage culture and the costume of the band members. All four of these people are within the age range 16-18 years old and are, like Adam, members of our target audience therefore their inclusion will suggest to the audience that they are actual fans of the band so there is a chance they could hang out with them too. It also helps to avoid alienating the band from the target audience as they are shown to be hanging around with everyday teenagers just like their audience. Although due to my AS Portfolio I am weary about using other actors, these people will only be given very minor roles, without any dialogue or any tasking actions therefore they should be able to successfully fill the roles given to them. All four extras also live considerably local to the Warmley Forest location therefore there should be no issues with arranging to get all of the actors on location at the correct time.

Storyboard and Shot Lists
Below features exemplar pages from my storyboard in preparation for filming including a list of shots I plan to obtain during the production stage. The list is compiled of basic wide shots of the band performing as well as various close ups of individual band members.

Recce and Risk Assessment
Risk Assessment
Due to the fact I plan to film in a derelict building, it was imperative for me to conduct a risk assessment of the building in order to ensure the building is secure for my actors and I. In order to do this I photographed the building and evaluated its stability with a risk assessor. Due to the buildings metal framework it has been deemed safe to use, additionally the room I plan to use includes no wires or tripping hazards for the actors and myself. All the debris in the room and surrounding areas will be cleared on production day in preparation for the filming to commence through using a broom to ensure it has been fully cleared.
Finally, as this building is a private listing Jake and I have contacted the local council in order to ask for permission to use the site as a filming location as they will also be aware of the buildings stability and avoid breaking any trespassing laws. However as Warmley Skate Park and surrounding locations are public land, there is no need to ask for the local council's permission.
Now that I have accumulated a risk assessment and permission to film within the building I can now continue the process of preproduction in order to prepare for the two planned days of filming.

Entering Preproduction - Gantt Chart and Song Production
Entering Preproduction
Now that I have completed my final digipak design it is now time for me to enter the preproduction stage of creating a music video for Bliss. During this stage I will be required to plan all aspects of the music video in order to then enter the production stage of the process. I have given myself a deadline of the sixth of December to fully prepare everything that is required in order to create a successful music video within the two filming dates I have been given, the 7th and 8th of December. During the preproduction stage I will be given the task of reccying various locations around Bristol to use as locations for filming, planning the costume of each actor, creating shot lists and storyboards of every scene within the video, acquiring equipment to use during production and casting extras to be included in various shots also featuring band members. In order to ensure I complete all of these tasks I have allocated myself deadlines which I have placed into the gantt chart below.
Peace - "California Daze"
Splashh - "All I Wanna Do"

Song Production
The only preproduction task which has been completed is the creation of my song for the video. The song Pink Lemonade was written and recorded by my partner Jake Kardasz and I today. In order to maintain the similar song structure to bands such as Swim Deep and Peace, who I have identified as similar media products to my own in order to clearly represent my target audience, we have maintained the key conventions of their genre. The song Pink Lemonade can be identified as a pseudo example of the new wave of British indie originating in Birmingham, coining the phrase "B-Town" mediums such as NME and Q. Here are examples of similar music products to the track and the opinions of their fans obtained from Twitter.
Peace - "California Daze"
- Slow pace
- Emotive lyrics
- Single plucked notes
- Clean vocals
- Radio friendly
- Reverb effects
- Synth
- Wide vocal pitch range
I maintained these conventions throughout the production of Pink Lemonade, in order to measure the extent which I have identified with my target audience I played the song to boys and girls who fall under my target demographic and psychographic audience. Here are there responses.
"It's good. It sounds like bands like Peace and Swim Deep and it's definitely something I could listen to over and over again" - Zoran Micic, 19
"The synths are really cool and the lyrics are really poppy and easy to listen to" - Sydnie Kemp, 18
"Really obvious British indie like Swim Deep and the chorus is catchy" - Ellen Ireland, 17
"I love the reverb effects and falsetto vocals in the chorus" - Dan Comley, 18
"The solo is really pretty" - Caitlin Whelan, 17
