Risk Assessment
Due to the fact I plan to film in a derelict building, it was imperative for me to conduct a risk assessment of the building in order to ensure the building is secure for my actors and I. In order to do this I photographed the building and evaluated its stability with a risk assessor. Due to the buildings metal framework it has been deemed safe to use, additionally the room I plan to use includes no wires or tripping hazards for the actors and myself. All the debris in the room and surrounding areas will be cleared on production day in preparation for the filming to commence through using a broom to ensure it has been fully cleared.
Finally, as this building is a private listing Jake and I have contacted the local council in order to ask for permission to use the site as a filming location as they will also be aware of the buildings stability and avoid breaking any trespassing laws. However as Warmley Skate Park and surrounding locations are public land, there is no need to ask for the local council's permission.
Now that I have accumulated a risk assessment and permission to film within the building I can now continue the process of preproduction in order to prepare for the two planned days of filming.
